PINK BOOTS IN BLACK PUDDLES - Book Cover Design

Lila wanted to self-publish her first memoir. As part of the self-publishing process, Lila needed to engage an independent designer to create her book cover design, as opposed to one being hired by a publishing house.

As a first-time author, Lila was new to the process of designing a book cover with a graphic designer. When she engaged me to design the cover for her book, she was working through the self-publishing process with her book editor, Clare. I collaborated with both Lila and Clare during the book cover design project.

I supported Lila and Clare during the project; providing information and advice on steps such as choosing format sizes and obtaining required design elements, such as ISBN numbers, barcodes etc.

Lila's memoir was written to inspire and encourage other women who have may have faced similar life challenges to her; her story is a very personal one. So, it was extremely important to Lila that the book cover design not only represent her and her story in a visual manner, but that it also connected to the viewer on an emotional level. It was also imperative that the pink boots were the hero of the cover design illustration.
